20 Acts of Kindness: How XSEM is Driving ESG, Community Impact & Sustainability in 2025

Writer: Amber JohnsAmber Johns

At XSEM, we don’t just talk about ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), we take action.

To celebrate our 20-year anniversary, we launched the XSEM 20 Acts of Kindness initiative in February 2023, committing to 12 months of impactful projects. From charity partnerships to employee volunteering, our goal is simple: to create lasting, meaningful change in the world.

Now, as we wrap up our second year (2024/25), we’re reflecting on how far we’ve come - and getting ready to make an even bigger impact in 2025.

2024/25: Giving Back & Positive Change

Our team has taken ownership of this initiative, leading a variety of sustainability, philanthropy, and community-driven projects.

Here’s a glimpse at the impact we’ve made in year 2:

  • Supporting Grassroots Sports: We proudly sponsored East Ardley FC and Guiseley U8 FC, helping young athletes thrive in local football.

  • Raising Money for Charity: Our XSEM Golf Day raised over £2,000 for Bowel Cancer UK, supporting a fantastic charity helping those affected by the disease.

  • Corporate Giving & Charity Partnerships: We supported SmartWorks' charity ball, handling their communications and social media strategy to help raise awareness.

  • Championing Women in Sport: As an ETC Leeds United partner, we sponsored a young female footballer, supporting gender equality in sports.

  • Sustainable Giving & Animal Welfare: And of course, we showed love to our favourite Yorkshire donkeys, Harbin and Cleo, by sponsoring their care.

"I approached XSEM about sponsorship for my daughter, Charlotte, who was recently accepted into the Leeds United ETC* programme. Players need sponsors, and when I shared our situation, XSEM was more than happy to help. With their own team of strong females passionate about sport and football, our story really resonated with them. Thanks to their support, Charlotte is a very happy girl!"

Making Community Kindness Part of Your Company Culture

Megan Walters, Senior Marketing Manager:

"Sustainability and social impact aren’t just buzzwords - they’re the foundation of responsible business today. With 20 Acts of Kindness we’re taking ownership, driving real change, and making a tangible difference in the communities around us. It’s about action, not just intention. When kindness and making people happy becomes part of your company culture, the impact speaks for itself. Businesses have the power to do more, be more, and give more."

What’s Next? XSEM’s ESG Plans for 2025 & Beyond

As we wrap up 2024/25, we’re already gearing up for another 12 months of impact, corporate giving, and employee-led community and charity initiatives - but it doesn’t stop there!

We’re taking our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments to the next level. To drive real, measurable change, we’ve recently appointed Sarah Symington as our ESG Project Plan Lead, supported by an internal ESG focus group. Their mission? To scale our ESG strategy over the next three years, ensuring our approach to sustainability, social impact, and ethical governance continues to grow.

And that’s not all, we’re also in the process of working towards official ESG accreditation to solidify our commitment and hold ourselves to the highest standards.
