XSEM ON CUE FOR WORLD SNOOKER

AUGUST 10, MON

Snooker's governing body has turned to a Leeds based sport marketing organisation to help promote the game's most high profile tournaments to the corporate market.

XSEM has agreed a new three-year deal with World Snooker to help sales of corporate and individual hospitality tickets for the Betfred.com World Snooker Championships at The Crucible in Sheffield, as well as for the UK Masters, held annually at Wembley Arena.

Three years ago, XSEM, specialists in sports event marketing, won the first contract of its kind from World Snooker to become the official supplier of corporate hospitality packages for the game's showpiece event.

Dan Bardgett, co-founder and director at XSEM, which is based in the Round Foundry Media Centre in Leeds, said: "We have developed a wonderful working relationship with World Snooker over the last three years, where we have helped them raise the profile and appeal of the Betfred.com World Snooker Championships within the lucrative corporate market.

"It an honour for all the team at XSEM to be invited help build on those foundations over the next three years. Snooker's appeal is on the rise again and we will be developing some exciting new products for the Championships in Sheffield as well as the UK Masters in Wembley."

The deal will see XSEM try to plug that gap between the corporate market and the individual consumer with a special VIP package starting from just £90.

Bardgett adds: "Everyone knows that budgets are tighter in the corporate world right now. We have listened to a lot of feedback in offering a style of ticket that will help special corporate guests feel well looked after, but at a fraction of the price. This also means the regular snooker fan can also experience VIP treatment at a great price."

Miles Pearce, commercial director for World Snooker said: "Over the last few years, XSEM have helped to position our showpiece event as the ideal combination of great sport and top quality corporate entertainment.

"We are delighted to have them on board for three more years and hope they can build further on the fantastic work they have done in opening snooker up to new markets and potential revenue streams."

The World Snooker Championships regularly attracts tens of millions of TV fans across the globe, and many thousands in person to The Crucible in Sheffield. It runs next year from April 17th to May 3rd. Before commencing its relationship with XSEM, the organisation had no provision for hospitality packages for the finals at its spiritual home in Sheffield.

The UK Masters, which runs for a week from January 10th in 2010 is widely regarded by the game's top players as the second most important tournament, with only the top 16 invited to compete for the coveted trophy.
