OUR JUNIORS WHITEWASH LAST YEAR'S CHAMPIONS

First man to play was our Junior Captain, Kieran Dodd, who played one of his best matchplay rounds to lead his opponent by three holes at the turn. Consistent and mature golf gave us our first two points with a magnificent five and four win. Tom Baird teed off in the second match and was immediately a hole behind but fought back strongly to lead by three at the turn. His Howley opponent wouldn't give in and got back to just one down after the 13th but Tom dug in and won on the 16th with a three hole advantage. Another two valuable points for our team.

Fraser Shiels was last away and was up against a formidable player who made few mistakes to leave Fraser two down after the 13th. A half on the 14th, a win for us on both 15 and 16 meant that the match was all square on the 17th. With the honour, Fraser fired a superb iron shot to within four feet and the resulting birdie gave him a one hole advantage going up the last and a solid par gave us yet another two points.

Tom Murray played as reserve and, on the day after his 12th birthday, put up a fantastic fight to lose on the 18th. His time in the team will definitely come!
