EXCITING SEASON START FOR THE JUNOIRS

On Thursday evening, Headingley hosted a Leeds and District Junior Cup match against Garforth Golf Club to get the 2009 season under way. Tom led the team off and was immediately behind as his partner birdied the first. Sophie was next away followed by Fraser. Things were looking bleak for our team after the front nine with Garforth ahead in all matches. Sophie was up against a solid player who made few mistakes on the back nine and the match went Garforth's way on the 16th. Fraser played with great confidence and maturity and fought back to a convincing win on the 16th. The match was all square!

Tom clawed his way back with some excellent golf and was all square on the 18th tee. Tom's birdie putt was agonisingly just short and the match ended up all square with the overall match tied at three points each. The tied match should have gone to the 19th to decide who will go through to the next round but, by then, darkness had descended. The sudden death play-off between Tom and his opponent will take place next Thursday 30th April at 4.46, come and give Tom your support! The first league match will take place next Tuesday 28 April away at Cookridge Hall.
